World’s smallest dice!

08.22.06

Billed as the smallest dice in the world, each one measures 0.3 x 0.3 x 0.3 mm (for perspective, see the photo above showing one of the die next to a 0.5-mm diameter mechanical pencil lead). The tiny dice are painstakingly crafted one by one from BsBm (brass) in a 9 hour long fabrication process that relies on the latest in micromachining technology. Each one weighs 0.00016 grams and the pips measure 0.05 mm in diameter. While the 100,275 yen (US$870) price tag includes a special case and the cost of shipping, it does not include the price of the microscope you will need to make sure nobody cheats at the craps table in your flea circus casino.

Europeans, Italians… and Arabs.

07.11.06

I found this video to be quite funny and surprising at the time, now while I did know that driving in Italy is known to be really BAD, I didn’t realize that Italians shared that many behaviors that we have mostly everywhere in the Arab world.

One of Google’s worst fears!

07.09.06

One of Google’s worst fears may have been realised. The latest edition of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary includes the word “google” which means to use the well-known search engine to look for information on the web. The entry means that in addition to being a proper noun, the word “google” - without capitalisation of the “g” - is now a common transitive verb.

To quote Google: “We also face risks associated with our trademarks. For example, there is a risk that the word ‘Google’ could become so commonly used that it becomes synonymous with the word ’search’. If this happens, we could lose protection for this trademark, which could result in other people using the word ‘Google’ to refer to their own products, thus diminishing our brand.”

Personally, I think that if the word “google” indeed becomes a word of all dictionaries as a verb, I think it should be kept as a trademark for Google because they deserve keeping the trademark they created and became so widely used all over the world, I think it just proves how successful Google are.

Military Parade Pictures

I went out yesterday to take photos of the participating air fighters but since I was too late, I took photos of everything on ground instead. Here’s some photos that I’ve chosen to post from all the pictures I’ve taken.

Fifa World Cup 2006 Predictions Contest

05.22.06

While Germany’s Fifa World Cup 2006 is getting closer, this unique world cup predictions contest from Al Ghad newspaper for all soccer fans is about to start. If you’d like to enter the contest, what you basicly need to do is make up your own Soccer dream team out of all Germany’s World Cup players that you predict will score the most goals in the upcoming world cup, where you get 4 points for every goal a Defender position player that you selected in your dream team scores, 3 points when a Midfielder position player scores, and 2 points when a Forward position player scores. I’d like to tag all of JordanPlanet soccer fans males and females to join the predictions contest, even if it was just for fun by writing about it in your blog, so we can see who’s the best predictor among the planet when the world cup is all over, and who knows, someone among JordanPlanet bloggers might win a Peugeot 307, 207 or one of Al Ghad’s prizes for the contest. I’m putting my hopes up on Brazil to win their 6th world cup with Ronaldinho, and on Holland to stop being unlucky.
P.S. Al Ghad’s Dream Team Contest website doesn’t work on Mozilla Firefox.

And here’s my dream team for Germany’s World Cup 2006:

Forwards: Ronaldo(Brazil), Ron Van Nistelrooij(Holland)
Midfielders: Micheal Ballack(Germany), Zenedine Zidane(France), Frank Lampard(England), Mark Van Bommel(Holland)
Defenders: Roberto Carlos(Brazil), Alessandro Nesta(Italy), Sergio Ramos(Spain), Roberto Ayala(Argentina)
(By the way, it has to be a 2-4-4 formation)

The Ultimate “Winning Eleven” PlayStation Tournament!

04.10.06

winning11.jpg

For those of you who aren’t quite Video Game fans, “Winning Eleven” is a popular soccer video game for Sony’s Playstation 2, that is widely played in Jordan. Just when you thought that video games hype that was caused by Counter Strike in Jordan the last few years was over, while I might be exaggerating about it, comes this “Winning Eleven” tournament sponsored by Play 99.6 held in Marriott Hotel sometime soon I guess :/ (the tournament registration page doesn’t mention neither a date or time) So anyways, if you think you’re a good Winning Eleven player, then you shouldn’t think twice about joining up this competetion, I know I wouldn’t but I’m a fifa fan and Winning Eleven just won’t do it for me. :)

Now all you need to do to is find a good Winning Eleven friend to play on your team, then follow this link to Play 99.6’s website and submit your information.
