I know its OCT 2007 now & most of the blog posts are talking about ‘Bab El Hara’
but I am going to submit my entry to the BBC contest which was already held in March this year. The contest came neighboring a debate with subject “How the Internet change our life“, held at Zara Amman. The subject of my entry to the contest was “What does Google Press tell us about UK online interests?” and below is the entry.
“Search giant Google in their press page Zeitgeist is showing us interesting facts about the top subjects do people in the whole world search for.
UK’s February 2007 top searched terms will help us understand a lot about UK culture and people. The list had 15 terms. We discovered that “Social Networking” is having the biggest share of Interest among all other topics and that shows how open minded, friendly and thirsty are the UK people for communication internally or around the globe. Another interesting discovery came from an article on e-consultancy.com; that the #1 most popular Blog in UK is Mashable.com. It talks about social networking and video sites like You tube. Blogs are the verses from the spirit of individuals within the crowds.
Sports and Autos News also had a strong presence. Absolutely we know how popular the TOP GEAR program is on the BBC Prime. The other keywords are about Travel, Mobiles, Property Search, Celebrities, Online Shopping, Children CBBC Program and Computing.
It is so fascinating to know that these are the most pursued topics ever aggregated by the Google UK users on that month. Aren’t Travel, Properties, Celebrities, PCs and shopping having a typical and a common formula of life? This is the formula of the UK people as expressed statistically by Google press.
UK February terminologies in Google list include also: SKY SPORTS, TESCO, PC WORLD, FACEBOOK, RIGHTMOVE, ORANGE, EASYJET, BRITNEY SPEARS, AUTOTRADER, BEBO and FACEPARTY.
