Despite what has occurred in yesterday’s final, the FIFA has decided to give the Golden Ball Award to Zidane as the Outstanding Player of World Cup 2006.

Zidan currently is the best in the world, but a great player like him should of control himself, specially that was his last game. Anyway he really reserve it.
he definitely deserves it… and Im really curious, i wonder what the Italian player said to him… because im sure he wouldn’t do such a thing and take the risk of losing so many fans!
He and Henry I think played very well in the final match. His skills easily eclipse his foolishness in the end and the FIFA probably didn’t want to see such great skill be burried under a bad memory like that so they decided to award him the golden ball which I’m sure they would have done even if he hadn’t done what he did.
I would say prior to this I had much respect for this man. After I saw how easily he can break down, not so much respect for the man as much as I have respect for the skills he has.
The Golden Ball Award is awarded through votes casted by the journalists and media personnel rather than FIFA officials. So FIFA has no say in who the award is given to -:)
Imad, thanks for correcting me. My point is whoever made the decision, made the right one and it is the outcome I would want to see even if it was entirely up to me after having seen what Zidane did.
